I have a kenwood TH-D74 HT with TNC APRS built in and want to know what setting in the RF Port ro other settings I need to use so I can be mobile and still see the APRS stations around me????

Hello all.

I suggested Lynn to create a callsign blacklist and to allow filtering of callsigns that break the rules of good RF performance or are non-amateur callsigns. Unfortunately, they exist. It is very annoying that there is nothing you can do about APRSISCE / 32 or correct the traffic over the radio. I guess Lynn won't do that anymore.

Hi Lynn

Would absolutely love to see this feature if its implemented.
Not only do we have "non-hams" doing FM voice but also APRS and its really not good.
APRSIS32 is configured to -b/NOCALL* -d/NOCALL* and as per understanding, this should prevent/ignore packets coming from ANY SSID of this callsign.
Let me know if there's anything else I can do to block this.

I would like to I GATE to RF certain Objects in my coverage zone that comes from the APRS feed. I would also like to CROSS BAND digi from 1200 baud to UHF 9600 baud and visa versa .. is that possible?

APRS, and APRSISCE/32, already supports messaging via the protocol definition. If you have two APRS stations within simplex range and seeing each other's beacons, there is no reason that they cannot directly message each other. AFAIK, Winlink is a closed system, but regardless, APRSISCE/32 will remain an APRS client.

I have not been on this site for a long time.
I am a long time user of APRSIS32. In the past I used Winlink and very much miss the direct messaging, station to station. In an emergency system on a simplex frequency, it would be much faster to direct message a station. As in any emergency situation, time is of the essence. Is there any plans to implement this protocol? Thank you everyone.

I twice successfully achieved the Internet feed of APRS plots all over the country but I don't know what the settings were that achieved that result. I lost that result on the next startup. Can someone tell me what the settings are to plot the Internet feed of APRS plots and make those settings permanent? (Email: ki5ss[at]yahoo[dot]com).

I'm looking for the feature in the software that allows me to go back and see the telemetry information of an individual track, specifically the distance of a track from start point to end. I've been able to find how to load old tracks, the decay and the likes but where do I find how to see the distance traveled.

I'd like to be able to be able to check the telemetry information at the individual points along the track as well as be able to see specifically the Distance traveled; being able to see the start and end time as well as the travel time would be even more convenient.

Where have I not looked? what am I not seeing?

Hi.

Still not able to get any of my laptop/PC to transmit or receive using the D700, with built in TNC. Took MY laptop to a friends and nothing worked.

MY D700 worked on ALL of his laptops/tablets. They were running WinXP and Win10, they were so annoyingly simple that one, the Win10 system, just worked once the RS232 was plugged in. No setup required

SO, we have decided MY radio works. The Laptops do not. I can see no reason why the cables and D700 are all ok, on any Machine but on my laptops they do not work.

There must be something wrong with the data side of my USB ports, as I am using a USB to RS232 converter cable as we did on my friends machines, but I cannot think where to look or what to look for.

PLEASE can anyone offer any help as I have no clue what to try next?

OK been trying to get this working now for some time.

Have used another HAMs Laptop with thier APRSIS32, with my KenWood D700 and my USB to RS232 cable and all worked.

Using any of my PCs/Laptops will not work. Have some error codes :

Tells me it is asking the radio to send a command but getting noting in return or wrong thing. Not sure how to correct

On just internet use I see stations popping up, not been able to contact any but they do pop up. With radio nothing happens, all goes blank. No communication at all.

Have tried using the KISS, simply(KISS) and D700Kiss modes. Have checked I am using the correct USB port. Cable checked with another laptop and all OK. Have updated drivers.

any ideas please. Not sure what you need to know so please ask if I have left any information out and if so how to make sure I can find said info and send please

I have been trying to find a simpler way to plot a route on my mapping software (Delorme Street Atlas) to a station on APRS. As of yet, I haven't found anything much short of copying GPS coordinates and searching for them in the mapping software, and then plotting a route. Either that, or eye-balling the rough area.

But I have just learned that the Kenwood TH-D7 and other Kenwood radios have the ability to send waypoints (& and GPS information) to garmin devices. And those devices can then make routes to the received stations. It looks like the raw data heading to the Garmin looks like this.

So this is what I want for Christmas! A way to take the stations that APRSIS/32 is receiving and forward them, along with my personal GPS position data, to my mapping software. This way I can plot routes to the waypoints.

I have learned more about the map tiles, and have found dark map tiles online!

Just disable map purging on your tile set and you should be good.

To prevent trying to access the Internet for new tiles, unceck Enables / Internet Access. Note that this will also kill the APRS-IS connection.

Thanks for the reply. Yes I am running aprsisce/32 on my computer and no it is not a different computer. the motorola mw800 has all the map tiles on it with aprsisce/32 running on it. It also has direwolf and all the software to control the radios for packet. If any other software needs to be loaded that is not a problem I can do that easily. Its just that I need to be able to point aprsisce to the directory that has the osm map tiles and not have it try to connect to osm server.

This is actually a better question to ask in the APRSISCE Yahoo group, at least I assume that you're planning to run APRSISCE/32 on the computer?

Is "my computer" which already has downloaded tiles different than the "motorola mw800 computer" in the truck?

If you repost this question to the APRSISCE Yahoo group with those clarifications, I'm sure we can get you going in the proper direction.

Hi I know this is an old post but this is the only one that i have found that is close to what I need info on. I am running a tm-d710 with a placer 455 gps tied into to a motorola mw800 computer in my truck. Is it possible to use the map tiles that I have allready downloaded from osm on my computer. I travel to remote ares that do not have internet connections even byway of cell phone so the ability to use maps offline stored on the computer would be of great help to me. I use sartrak but that dose not work for mobile operations it is intended for fixed position operation and that is fine for the base location. But for the people in the field we we need to have the ability see the station close to us. We do not need to know all the aprs traffic within 100 miles just the ones that are close to us in the field.
