I have not been on this site for a long time.
I am a long time user of APRSIS32. In the past I used Winlink and very much miss the direct messaging, station to station. In an emergency system on a simplex frequency, it would be much faster to direct message a station. As in any emergency situation, time is of the essence. Is there any plans to implement this protocol? Thank you everyone.

73,
Steve KB7ITU

I'm looking for the feature in the software that allows me to go back and see the telemetry information of an individual track, specifically the distance of a track from start point to end. I've been able to find how to load old tracks, the decay and the likes but where do I find how to see the distance traveled.

I'd like to be able to be able to check the telemetry information at the individual points along the track as well as be able to see specifically the Distance traveled; being able to see the start and end time as well as the travel time would be even more convenient.

Where have I not looked? what am I not seeing?

Send Waypoints & GPS to Mapping Software

A port or feature that sends APRS stations received in to mapping software as waypoints.

I have been trying to find a simpler way to plot a route on my mapping software (Delorme Street Atlas) to a station on APRS. As of yet, I haven't found anything much short of copying GPS coordinates and searching for them in the mapping software, and then plotting a route. Either that, or eye-balling the rough area.

But I have just learned that the Kenwood TH-D7 and other Kenwood radios have the ability to send waypoints (& and GPS information) to garmin devices. And those devices can then make routes to the received stations. I saw this in a video www(dot)youtube(dot)com/watch?v=yxK1O4duO4s, and also on this site www(dot)hulleng(dot)karoo(dot)net/g0vrm/content/aprs/garmin(dot)htm

It looks like the raw data heading to the Garmin looks like this.
$GPWPL,5346.17,N,00030.15,W,M1BLR *5C
$GPWPL,5342.91,N,00027.05,W,N TOWE*36
$GPWPL,5344.03,N,00025.68,W,G0VRM*6B

So this is what I want for Christmas! A way to take the stations that APRSIS/32 is receiving and forward them, along with my personal GPS position data, to my mapping software. This way I can plot routes to the waypoints.

73
Tim D.
KD8LKQ

First let me say I love APRSISCE! I've checked out a number of different ones out there, and this is hands down the best and most intuitive one that I've seen. It will remain my favorite APRS software.

Now to the feature request. I'm looking for a quick and easy way to copy GPS coordinates to the clipboard. I do this so that I can then paste them into Street Atlas. Either for making a point of interest, or to plan a route to the address/coordinates.

The fastest way I've seen thus far, and correct me if I'm wrong, is to: click on a station>RemRF>CTRL+C>Paste the info into a text document>Select the GPS coordinates>CTRL+C again>And then Paste into the search of my navigation software.

It works, but an option for copy GPS to clipboard would make connecting my navigation software to APRSISCE much easier!

Again, thanks for the AMAZING software, I'm so glad I stumbled across it.

73, KD8LKQ - TimD

I have used Delorme Street Atlas on my Toughbook in my SUV for a long time, and one of the features that I had at first wrote off as silly, I discovered was very useful, and I use it regularly now. That feature was what Delorme calls High Contrast Mode.

When you enabled, it turns the background of all the maps to black, instead of white. And it is very useful for night time driving, when you don't want a white screen shining in your eyes.

I imagine from a programmer's perspective this is a real nightmare since I gather the maps are downloaded pictures, and altering them would be a pain in the neck. Perhaps though it could be done in rendering? Some kind of color substitution?

Anyways, I joined the wikidot to throw this request out there.

Good Morning,
I am deeply involved with emergency communications. I have been in packet radio and aprs for many years. I was using uiview for that time. There is one thing I miss and that is not being able to enter a direct path or no path at all to a close station. If a person can send a message direct and not have to go through the digi's , it cuts down on traffic and messages are a lot quicker. Thank you for all you folks do. This is a great program.

Steve

Lynn-

Instead of using call sign for someone's identity to verify QSL (that would just be too easy), they are assigning custom Symbol Tables and Symbol Codes when you register.

I can understand not being able to assign them in the GUI, but when I try to change Symbol Table from / to ! in the XML config (this is what I have been assigned), APRSIS32 changes it back to "/". Can you make a version of APRSIS32 that will accept other charters for Symbol Table except "/" and "\"

You can get more info from the website here:

The Herzliya Science Center is inviting stations with the ability to
send compressed APRS packets to take part in testing the Duchifat-1
CubeSat, launched almost 1 year ago by high school students in
Israel. The satellite will collect packets worldwide and downlink
them from time to time over the Herzliya Science Center's ground
station.

Participants must register in advance at
(can't include link due to low Karama) to have their
packets identified on the map.

Received packets will be displayed on a map on the Science Center's
website, and QSL cards will be sent via the bureau. The Duchifat-1
sponsors say there is no way they can recognize packets from
unregistered stations "because the packet is limited to 14
characters at the satellite, so we assign two unique characters to
every registered station to enable us to identify them."

The uplink is 435.220 MHz, the downlink is 145.980 MHz. The
satellite's beacon call sign is 4X4HSL.

Lynn,

I was contemplating changing several of my settings the other day (for mobile ops from a sailboat), and I realized several things that I might manually want to change (SSID, map tile set, APRS icon, path, etc.) on a recurring basis. I then thought about the paradigm that the Kenwood Radios (D700, D710) utilize with their Programmable Memories (PMs)

My idea would be for APRSISCE/32 to employ the concept of "profiles". Using this concept, the operator could set, save, and recall groups of settings. These "profiles" could be named for easy recall, and be implemented by merely managing xml configuration file(s) with a little bit of program logic. In fact, I'm doing this now on my WinMo device with a scripting language. I call a script from a shortcut which renames/copies a certain copies of the setup xml files, and then calls the program. But, it would be more elegant if the program handled profile management internally.

Anyway, I thought I would pass this along as a suggestion if you deem it worthy for your next upgrade.

73,
Jeff
N5TEV
