Ok Im new to APRS and Im really excited about this software potential. However before I jump in too far on this set up I need to know more about Maps that are supported by this. I know there are several URL for map tile sets, however Im planning a massive baja road trip and I want to keep all the tiles for the entire peninsula on my tablet. I know that some URLs offer parts of baja or not down to a low enough zoom the maps are not accurate or old and the servers are extremely slow. What I do have is access to trusted map tile sources such as Lowrance or Garmin. What my question is, How do I get those tile sets into this software? If This seems like a silly question and Im missing something simple let me know.
I currently have a tablet and a Yeasu ftm 400dr. This is not a substitution for good old paper maps, but a hobby and would be fun to track the other member of my group on this road trip. We have permission from the Mexican government to be on HAM wile across the border. My other option is a full on chart plotter connecting my radio through Nema2000 but this option will be pricey, I like the idea of using my tablet, I just need to confirm I can get the necessary maps I need to function with this software.!
